No :( ,
Viljandi is in central Estonia.
But there has been 3 years summer D-race in Valga.
And that city is as near to Latvia,that can be :) .Border runs thru Valga.Latvian side of the town is Valka.

Well, it has been annual for 3 years.There are Valga city days in summer(July),and that time there has been D race.
Info about races will appear some time(month or so) before the race here(in "2008")-

You need a D-engined moped(see rules in the beginning of this theme) and helmet.I think the Valga race is free(no entrance fee for racers).

On Standart class you have to use original K-34(B,V), but on Open and sidecar class there is all sorts of carbs-Dellorto, Mikuni, Amal, Bing, Tillotson, Keihin and so on.Size is between 16-32mm.I had 20mm Tillotson pumper(no floatchamber).

There was again D-race this weekend- Saku Suursõit 2008.
More than 50 people racing D´s(some from Latvia too).
There was 4 different classes-

2.Standard with racer older than 30 years

I think that race winning tuned Open and sidecar class D-mopeds may have around 5-7 HP.

About speed I don´t know, depends what size wheels you have and how many tooths you have on your rear sprocket.Our "D-racing tracks" are usually on streets of citys and villages with sharp 90-degree corners or slower hobbykarting tracks.So you need good acceleration instead of top speed.
I have heard that some D-racers have done more than 100km/h when tried for maximum speed(with smaller sprocket).
In this old D-race video you can hear some realy"angry and fast"(thanks to big rear sprockets for "motocross" style track :D ) sounding D-mopeds-

I don´t know if it´s 100% true, but I have heard, that in old "Zelta mopeds" time the faster Latvian D-engine based racers made 116 km/h on track 8) .
Affcourse the "Zelta mopeds" time D-racers seemed to had more free engine rules, than our D-racing series now :roll: .
We have to use "Krasny Oktjabr" factory made cylinders(both air and watercooled), whitch have some limitations for tuning in their design.

PS.There is (most likely)last D-race of this season in 29.11 in Abja(near Viljandi in the centre of Estonia)called "Old Dryer Ring".

"Old dryer ring" - "vecās kaltuves aplis" sounds good! And te picture on a ticket is appropriate! :)

In this youtube video - most of all mopeds sounds like a bees - tiny "bzzz", and the riders are not big men, but there was one older (bigger)rieder and his moped had, seems, stock exaust pipe, and sound was also rougher - "ftrrrrr" :) :)
